First topic message reminder :
So I am sure most of you are aware of the changes made to player priority in the OCG after the release of recent card packs. For the time being, player priority remains the same in the TCG but is also expected to hit us in the nearby future.
What do i mean when I say a change in player priority?
Well priority itself as a game mechanic has not changed in the OCG but the ability to be able to call priority on your monsters ignition effect has. Any effect that does not trigger on the Normal or Special Summon of a card cannot be activated with player priority anymore. This means cards like Lonefire Blossom, or Card Trooper, even Dark Armed Dragon, must wait for a response to their summon before the controller of that monster can activate its Ignition Effect. Trigger Effects like Monarchs and Gadget cards will not be affected.
Why did Konami want to change player priority rulings?
This is quite a simple question to answer. If you think about different effects and how they are activated you will see that a Trigger Effect and an Ignition Effect do not differ much from each other with the current player priority ruling. Being able to activate an Ignition Effect as chain link 1 when a monster is summoned is like saying it has a Summon Trigger Effect. Konami also needed a way to drastically slow down the game and so the answer to both these problems was this rule change.
So what do you think!
What decks will be greatly affected if this rule change was to take place?
When do you think (if it takes place) will the ruling change hit the TCG?
Do you think this will be good or bad for the current format/playstyle of the game?
