Battle Replay's (Advanced Gameplay) Empty Battle Replay's (Advanced Gameplay)

Usually duelists are unsure about whether or not they can replay an attack after their opponent has activated a card. This tutorial will explain when you can replay an attack and when your attack must continue after a card has been activated and resolved.

Battle Replay's Occur during either player's Battle Phase when either:
    1. The amount of monsters on the field change after an attack target is selected with a monster.
    2. A new monster replaces another monster on the field after an attack target is selected with a monster.

After you’ve announced you are attacking a monster during your Battle Step, the attack target might be removed from the field, or a new monster may be placed on the opponent’s side of the field before the Damage Step begins due to a card effect. This causes a Battle Replay. When a Battle Replay occurs, you can then choose to:
1). Attack with the same monster again
2)*. Choose to attack with a different monster
3). Choose not to attack at all

One of the above three scenarios will occur in a Battle Replay but selecting option 2 comes with a price:
    * You can choose to not attack with the monster that initially declared an attack, that monster then cannot attack for the rest of the Battle Phase.

In all 3 cases the original attacking monster before the Battle Replay occurs cannot change to Defense Position during Main Phase 2 because it is still considered to have declared an attack. The same also applies to monsters flipped face-down by cards like Book of Moon in the Battle Step in response to an attack declaration. That monster then cannot be Flip Summoned in Main Phase 2, because it is still considered to have declared an attack.

NOTE: Remember, if you attack with a different monster, the first monster is still considered to have declared an attack, and it cannot attack again during that same Battle Phase..

    For Example:
You have Destiny Hero Diamond Dude in face-up Attack Position. Your opponent has no monsters on the field and a face-down Call of the Haunted.
    1. You declare a direct attack to your opponent's Life Points.
    2. Your opponent activates Call of the Haunted and Special Summons a Mystic Tomato from their Graveyard.
--------------The amount of monsters on the field has changed. You now have 2 options due to Battle Replay--------------
    1. Continue the attack, but attack your opponent's Mystic Tomato
    2. Stop Destiny Hero Diamond Dude's attack.

NOTE: During your Main Phase 2 you CANNOT manually change the position of Destiny Hero Diamond Dude even if you decided not to attack during the Battle Replay.
